We are proud to be an independent brand designed with love in Hawai‘i and made ethically in our other island home, Bali. As a brand, it's always been important for us to remain true to the design process to create thoughtful, original pieces. When you purchase a THOSE SEEN DANCING® piece, you’re getting hundreds of hours of creation, experimentation, and collaboration with expert makers from Hawai‘i and Bali.

From our makers to our models, we stand for safe and respectful working environments for everyone in our TSD fam. We are committed to fair wages and healthy working conditions at every level, and only partner with organizations that share our values.

 

Conscious Production

Sustainability has been rooted in our brand from inception. We aim to create swimwear that doesn’t compromise the planet or the communities we touch.

Fashion is one of society's most personal forms of self-expression, yet the industry's impact on the Earth and her inhabitants blatantly contradicts our vision for a sustainable future.

While using recycled and sustainable materials is a great start, we go further by considering the entire lifecycle of our products—how they’re made, who is making them, where the energy to make them comes from, whether the organizations involved are locally- or foreign-owned, and what happens to the garments after they are purchased. We work exclusively with reputable small, locally-owned factories with whom we have a personal relationship with to ensure conscious production at every stage.

1 piece = 1 tree

For every item purchased, we plant one tree and give a percentage of profits back to the community in Bali, supporting cultural and environmental organizations we believe in. We use minimal, reusable packaging to reduce unnecessary waste, and work every day to eliminate single-use plastics from our supply chain. We've also been integrating more upcycled and overstock fabrics into our designs, and hope to continue this in future collections.
